Peel Vets

Ian Dewar, a Dementia Friends Champion from Middleton on the Wolds was delighted when Peel Veterinary expressed an interest in signing up to the Dementia Friends initiative sponsored by the Alzheimer's Society. '

'With two busy surgeries in Beverley and Hornsea, getting staff together for a single session proved almost impossible,' says Ian, 'so we agreed to do induction sessions in both premises and I'm now delighted to welcome all staff from Peel Vets in Beverley and Hornsea as Dementia Friends.'

'The Dementia Friends initiative is sponsored by the Alzheimer's Society and aimed at making society more aware of those in our communities who live with Dementia. Many living with Dementia of course have pets; and anything that can be done to help or reassure pet owners who may seem confused or upset during a visit to the vets is a great step forward. I can only hope many more will be interested in becoming Dementia Friends.'

Peel Veterinary is the first veterinary practice in Yorkshire to become Dementia Friendly.
