Beverley Folk Festival has launched an appeal for more volunteers to come forward and help at this year’s festival at Beverley Racecourse on 16th to 18th June.

If music is at the heart of the festival, then volunteers are its lifeblood. Matt Snowden, pictured, one of the team that organises the festival commented, “Without volunteers there would be no festival, it’s as simple as that. They are absolute stars. It would be wonderful if even more people could come forwards and join us.  What’s so lovely about the event is that many volunteers have been coming for years and made firm friendships through it.  Being a volunteer is more than just helping to make the event work, however important that might be – it’s also about forging friendships, seeing fantastic acts, having fun and lots of laughter!  What better way to spend the Summer Solstice weekend!”

The range of voluntary opportunities include: helping set up the festival site – assisting with clear up - working on the box office and information desk – stewarding the various performance venues - selling merchandise - campsite and traffic control - being part of the Green Team and more.

Volunteer Coordinator Tina Walker explained: “It is always great to greet new volunteers and returning regulars. Every year over 200 people join us to ensure the event is a success and have a wonderful time being part of the team that makes the Beverley Folk Festival happen each year. You will be guaranteed a warm friendly welcome”

For working a minimum of 12 hours over the weekend volunteers receive, as a thank you, a free weekend ticket, worth £120. A camping pass can also be provided for those wishing to stay on site for the weekend.
