Tour De Yorkshire 6

Yorkshire’s Biggest Bike race taking place between 30th April and 3rd May - 4 days of pure cycling - starts in Beverley! The first stage of the ‘Le Tour’ starts out from Saturday Market Place on 30th April. Ahead of the cyclists lies 176.5km of road, two sprint sections, two climbs, beautiful views and iconic locations before reaching the finish in Redcar.

From the start the planned route traverses the Georgian Quarter, through North bar and out into the Molescroft area before returning into the town and turning up Norwood Road before heading out to Leven and beyond. On the day of the race Saturday Market will host street entertainment, with approximately 1000 school children taking part events on the day itself!

Le Tour is a wonderful opportunity for communities to get involved and make the event their own. Enter the Land Art or Best Dressed competitions, and let your inspiration run wild. There are four categories in Best Dressed - Best Dressed Village, Town, Host Location and ‘Spirit of the Tour’ for those who pull communities and business together and embrace the event! You can register your Land Art online at https://letour.yorkshire.com/information/land-art/

The official charity is Yorkshire Cancer Research, and the official artist for the event is Claire Baxter, who is currently working on 6 new pieces of art; Claire has a gallery in Pately Bridge.

Educational packs are available for schools and other groups, and are available from https://letour.yorkshire.com/information/education-pack/
