YORKSHIRE WOLDS WAY RELAY CHALLENGE

Fri 8th June 2018
Wolds Way 1

At 7.30am on a very warm and sunny Sunday, 27 May 2018, eight local running clubs met at Hessle Foreshore to start the first leg of the Yorkshire Wolds Way Relay Challenge.

Each team fielded 10 runners who each ran a leg along the Wolds Way to complete the 79 miles to Filey Brigg.   The challenge was organised by Andy Tate and Jayne Dale from Beverley Athletic Club and teams from Barton, Caistor, Beverley, Driffield and Hull took part with the first team finishing at Filey Brigg in just over 10 hours with the last team coming in at just under 13 hours.

There was plenty of support and camaraderie between the teams and from feedback received, all teams have stated that they hope the Challenge will take place again next year.  Each runner received a bottle of Wolds Way beer and a specially commissioned wristband, with  £1 from their entry fee donated to the trail.

Many runners commented on the stunning views, good signage and how well the route was maintained. Hopefully the photos taken show the Yorkshire Wolds Way at it’s very best in the spring sunshine.
