Winter cheer at Community Cafe

Fri 24th January 2014

East Riding Community Hospital has joined forces with the Humber NHS Foundation Trust to serve up affordable warming food to the elderly and people on a low income.

Your Community Cafe provides a hot lunch for just £2 every weekday, for those coming to visit people in hospital, as well as people who just want to drop in and make use of the facility.

Not only does it provide food, but it also gives the community a chance to get together and socialise with other people.

Advice and information on how to stay safe and warm during winter is also provided.

Local business owner Tina Cerutti, of Cerutti 2 by the railway station, has also been involved, advising the Trust about how to cook for large numbers of people on a small budget.

And Beverley Community Lift has been taking busloads of people to the site for their lunch.

The cafe is open from 8.15am Monday to Friday, and over lunchtime on Saturdays. The £2 hot meal is available from 12 noon to 1.30pm on weekdays. Under-fives get a free meal with every adult meal purchased.
