Hull Aero Club celebrates 25 years at Beverley Airfield, Leven, with an air show, static displays, music, re-enactments, parachute drop, food and drink and the opening of a new flight training school.

The new flight training school will be named in honour of local WW2 flying ace 'Ginger' Lacey. Ginger shot down more than 28 enemy aircraft, damaged 9 and contributed to the demise of 5 more. He was on duty on the first and the last days of the war and he went on to train more pilots both within the RAF and after leaving the RAF. He lived and worked in Bridlington and is commemorated in Bridlington Priory.

The school will be opened by Ginger Lacey's daughter, Min.

The event coincides with Amy Johnson's amazing feat and is included as part of the Amy Johnson Festival. Hull Aero Club was originally based at Hull Municipal Aerodrome in Hedon which was where Amy Johnson landed on her return from Australia in 1930.

Although the day will have a 40's-style theme, and 40's-style dress is encouraged, this will be a great day out for everyone in the local area. There will be visit from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and other vintage aircraft, helicopters (including a Search and Rescue helicopter) and the opportunity to take a ride in a Rapide, Harvard T6 or a helicopter.

Supported by the RAF, there will be music from an RAF band and other music.
