Beverley's Mayor, Councillor Peter Astell, attended the opening of Wilko's new, larger store at 9am on November 3rd. He was handed a £500 cheque donation by Store Manager, Zoe Armitage, who cut the ceremonial ribbon and thanked everyone for being there.

The first 100 customers were handed 'Goody Bags' and all visitors entertained with music, a stilt walker, a magician and a face painter. Plus there was complimentary candy floss for children and opportunities to win gift card prizes.

To continue the opening celebrations, the new store will host a family fun weekend on Saturday 7th November, offering the first 50 shoppers through the doors a £5 gift card. Younger shoppers will be able to enjoy face painting and an autumnal craft workshop.

Wilko is committed to Britain’s high streets and prides itself on being a community focused retailer, actively supporting local charities, community groups and empowering its team members to support great causes that are locally important to them.
