Toys For Turkey Delivered

On Sunday 16th April 2023 Ali Tekce with a host of volunteers transformed Beverley's Wednesday Market into a fun-filled day of Turkish Delights.

As you entered Wednesday Market from 12.00 the Turkish and British flags formed a great back drop to the whole event, demonstrated how working together can deliver fantastic results.

The event running from 12 to 6pm was full of Fun, Food, Entertainment to keep everyone happy on a lovely Spring afternoon.

People were encouraged to bring along shoe boxes unsealed but filled with Toys for the children of Turkey who have had their lives changed. The hope is that these boxes will create new memories and hope as they adapt to their new lives, any donations going to the children displaced following the earthquakes.

In attendance were Mr James Dick OBE, HM Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire, Tina Cerutti, High Sheriff of East Riding of Yorkshire, Osman Koray Ertas Turkish Ambassador, MP Graham Stuart, Cllr John Whittle, Chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Linda Johnson, Mayor of Beverley, Murat Bingol, Chairman of Musiad and Ali Tekce. Everyone taking time out from their busy schedule to help raise awareness and be part of this fantastic event which Ali had organised to bring hope and joy to the children displaced in the earthquakes.

If you were away and missed the event items can be dropped off at Mirage until Wednesday 19th April after which arrangements are being made to transport the donations to the children who are in great need.
