  • Start playing. Children from the age of 3 1/2 can start to play tennis. Starting good coaching from a young age is great for developing the right technique early on.
  • Don't waste money on equipment. When children are new to a sport, all they really need to be equipped with is the right attitude. At the tennis club, we provide all the equipment as part of our coaching.
  • Be on the ball. Start young children off playing with larger tennis balls on smaller courts. This is great for getting the hang of things.
  • Complementary exercise. Other exercise which focuses on leg and core strength, flexibility and mobility is all great for tennis practice.
  • Always stretch. Before and after exercise. Stretches reduces the risk of injury, and speeds up recovery time.
  • Enjoy yourself. Tennis is a great competitive sport, but it's important to have fun.
  • Have the right approach. A healthy sporting attitude goes a long way.
  • Never give up. There'll always be another challenge around the corner. Be ready to face it.
  • Stay hydrated. Especially when playing outdoors in summer, keep your hydration levels topped up at all times.
  • Healthy diet. A good, balanced diet isn't just great for health, it's key for being mentally and physically prepared too.
