Third Instalment of 'Apprentice Witch' trology released on World Book Day

Bestselling children’s author, James Nicol, will be signing copies of his books at WH Smith in Beverley on Saturday 16th March, from 11am until 2pm, to celebrate the release of the third and final instalment of his bestselling Apprentice Witch trilogy.

The Apprentice Witch trilogy follows the story of teen witch Arianwyn Gribble, who has spent her young life preparing for her witch’s evaluation, only to fail it in a very public way. As the artillery of war rumbles in the distance, Arianwyn is billeted to the remote village of Lull, to serve and protect the villagers as their district witch. But sleepy Lull is not all it seems. There is a strict curfew, a mystery surrounding the fate of their previous witch and something terrible is growing in the woods ... Arianwyn finds herself facing a test far greater than any exam.

In the final (for now!) instalment A Witch Come True, released on World Book Day (7th March), Arianwyn faces possibly her toughest challenge so far amidst confusing local traditions, family squabbles and Lull being cut off by a terrible storm.

The first book, The Apprentice Witch (published in 2016) was longlisted for both the Branford Boase Award and Waterstones Children’s Book of the Year. It was also named an Amzon.com book of the year following its release in America and Canada in 2017. And received rave press reviews from The Guardian to The New York Times.  The books have so far been published in many other countries including, The USA, Canada, Romania, Mexico, Spain and Russia.

It was recently announced that Emmy award winning television production company, Lime Pictures, who produce the Netflix smash hit Free Rein, are working on a TV series adapted from the trilogy of books.

James will be visiting Beverley WH Smith as part of his launch tour where he will be visiting schools, libraries and bookshops across the country throughout March and April.

James has loved books and stories his whole life. As a child he spent hours absorbed in novels, watching epic 1980s cartoons or adventuring in the wood at the bottom of the garden. He has worked as a bookseller and librarian and is a passionate advocate for books and the power of stories to change lives. He serves as a Patron of Reading for a school in Lincolnshire and when not busy being an author works part time in a library. (Yes, he really loves books that much!)  Originally from Norfolk he now lives in East Yorkshire in a house with too many books and too many musical instruments with his partner and a black and white cockapoo called Bonnie.
