Summer Fair At Beverley Minster Primary School

A school charity in Beverley is hoping their upcoming community summer fair will help them move a step closer to being able to provide pupils with outdoor play equipment.

For the past two years children at Beverley Minster Primary School have not had an outdoor play area after the old wooden adventure trail was deemed unsafe.

Beverley Minster Primary school PTFA have set themselves the huge challenge of raising £25,000 to build a new trail and give children at the school a fun, safe outdoor environment which will last for generations to come.

On Saturday 8th July a Community Summer Fair is being held in the school grounds as part of their fundraising appeal.

‘The highlight of our fair will definitely be the Ings Park Alpacas!’ says Caroline Bilton, Co-Chair of the Beverley Minster Primary School PTFA charity. ‘We are so excited to welcome these cheeky characters to our event. Visitors will be able to meet the animals and learn all about them and it won’t cost them a penny!’

The PTFA have teamed up with local sports clubs too to offer free come and try it taster sessions. Children will be able to get golf tuition from PGA Golf Professional, Paul Gibson from Beverley Golf club. They will be able to try their hand at rugby with Beverley RUFC, martial arts with Beverley Martial Arts Academy and squash with the Beverley Squash and Racketball club. Allus netball will also be giving children tuition.

‘We wanted to create a fun filled afternoon for families which won’t cost the earth, says Caroline. ‘For £5 each children will be able to purchase a wristband that will give them unlimited bouncing all afternoon on our selection of inflatables provided by one of our sponsors J Bouncetastic.’

‘There will be circus skills workshops, games stalls, a bar and BBQ and live music from local musician Gerald Pickford.’   ‘Humberside Fire and Rescue will be bringing along their fire engine and Humberside Police will be joining us with their police car.’

‘We are also having a well being workshop area, kindly sponsored by Karinya Yoga where both adults and children will be able to take part in free taster sessions with Blossom and Bloom Yoga and Strength and Spirit.’

It’s hoped the event, that takes place between 12 and 4pm, will help raise much needed funds for the Beverley Minster Primary School playground appeal.
