The East Riding Festival of Words is back this week, bringing popular authors to the local area.

Several events are now sold out, but there are still some tickets left for a range of very different events. For all these events, tickets are available online at festivalofwords.co.uk or over the phone at 01482 392699 until midday on Friday 18th October, and after this time tickets will be available on the door at events.

Rhik Samadder, writer and Guardian columnist, on Friday, 18 October at 3.30pm in the beautiful setting of Beverley Art Gallery:  “I Never Said I Loved You” -  a memoir discussing depression and understanding your own mental health. Rhik is a very interesting, articulate and amusing speaker, and the book should appeal to readers of books by Matt Haig, and anybody who enjoys a great memoir.

The event will be hosted by local author Louise Beech whose book ‘Call Me Star Girl’ recently won Book of the Year in the Big Book Awards 2019.

Gareth P Jones on Saturday, 19 October at 11am at the Parkway Cinema in Beverley  - an hour of fantastic children's entertainment, including singing, dancing, rapping and stories from a very popular children's author

Jess Kidd, Chris Simms and Amanda Mason on Saturday, 19 October at 11.30am at Beverley Memorial Hall, where they'll be discussing Gothic Thrillers as part of the crime line up for ‘Murder Day’.

James Campbell will be at Parkway Cinema on 27 October at 11am – he is well known for doing 'Comedy 4 Kids' and has appeared on ‘Blue Peter’ several times. This will be a stand-up comedy show for children over six, their parents, and anyone who likes comedy without the rude words. Booking is strongly recommended – this is likely to sell out soon!

Tickets for all events cost £6.60 each (inclusive of the 10% booking fee) from www.festivalofwords.co.uk or by calling 01482 392699 in office hours.
