St Mary's seeks community help

The community of Beverley is being given the opportunity to help restore the town's oldest building.

St Mary's Church in North Bar Within needs £5million to restore the 900 year-old stonework, much of which is now crumbling away.

The church has not undergone any major restoration since Victorian times and so an appeal is being set up to enable the vital works to go ahead.

Fundraising ideas are being sought from Beverley residents, and anyone who has any thoughts is encouraged to contact 01482 869137.

Donations can also be made by putting them in an envelope marked 'Restoration' and placing it in a box at the back of the church.
