SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, plays a crucial role in supporting the well-being of military personnel, veterans, and their families. However, the effectiveness of their mission relies heavily on the dedication of volunteers.

Mrs Sandra Staples, BEM for services to SSAFA, East Yorkshire Branch Secretary of SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, has continued with her voluntary work with SSAFA for over 34 years and has decided to make way for somebody else to step into her shoes. She intends stepping back in December 2024. SSAFA need a Branch Secretary, can you help?

The Chair of the East Yorkshire Branch, Michael H. Menzies-Baird, said "Sandra Staples has done a fantastic job, she is an amazing person, we will be sorry to see her leave as she has set such high standards. We now have the difficult task of finding the right person to step in and take over when Sandra leaves".

SSAFA is a fantastic Charity and volunteering with them will provide numerous benefits, both personally and professionally. Firstly, it provides a sense of fulfillment and purpose by contributing to a meaningful causes and people. Volunteers often experience increased happiness and satisfaction through their efforts.

Secondly, volunteering offers valuable opportunities for skill development and networking. Branch Secretaries for SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) plays a crucial role in coordinating support for military personnel/veterans and their families. They oversee administrative tasks, coordinate volunteers, and liaise with community partners. This role offers valuable experience in leadership, communication, and organisational management.

Thirdly, volunteering provides a sense of belonging and connection within the community.

The Branch Secretary serves as key figures in supporting those who have served their country, ensuring they receive the assistance and resources when in need after protecting our country. By volunteering with SSAFA, in particular as a Branch Secretary, individuals not only contribute to a worthy cause but also gain invaluable experience and make a tangible difference in the lives of military personnel/veterans and their families.

It's a role that requires dedication, compassion, and a commitment to serving others, offering immense personal satisfaction and the opportunity to positively impact the community.
