Save The Date For The 2023 What S On Event In Beverley In Memory Of Ivan Usher

After the huge success of last year’s event, East Riding Leisure Beverley will again host a major What’s On event in memory of Ivan Usher. The event will take place on Sunday, 25 June , when many local organisations, sports clubs and local residents will come together.

The event will be a joint initiative between the council’s active communities team, East Riding Leisure Beverley and The Usher family, and will be a tribute to the memory of Ivan Usher, after whom a stand is named at Beverley Town FC. Ivan taught PE at Longcroft School for approximately 30 years before his family set up and ran a Fitness Centre in Beverley. He was an extremely respected teacher and sportsman and inspired and influenced many people.

On the day, there will be a football tournament for schools. There will also be opportunities for the public to take part in a wide range of sports and activities – details will be announced shortly.

The event will also be a chance for local voluntary community groups to take an information stall and let the community know what is going on in the local area. Stallholders will not be allowed to sell any products.

Laura Hutchinson, healthy lifestyles development officer at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said : “We would like to hear now from any Beverley-based community group who would like to have a stall free of charge at our What’s On event as part of the Ivan Usher Community Celebration.

“This will be a great chance to get your message across to the people of Beverley and the surrounding area as to what you can offer the local community.”

Any local voluntary group interested in having a stall should contact laura.hutchinson@eastriding.gov.uk as soon as possible, as there will be limited numbers of stall available.
