Recent acquisitions at Treasure House

Wed 16th April 2014

A small display of recently acquired artefacts has gone on show at the Treasure House in Beverley. The display can be found in the café area on the first floor and is running until Friday 4 July.

Dr. David Marchant, museums registrar with East Riding of Yorkshire Council said: “Inevitably with it being the centenary year, we have had a number of donations relating to the First World War. They include a lead battleship model that once formed part of the Hengate war memorial in Beverley and a memorial plaque for boys from Castle Howard Reform School who were killed fighting at the front.

“However, there are also some other fascinating items, including a splendid late 19th century silver cricket trophy donated by the East Riding Amateur Cricket League.”

The Treasure House is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30am-5pm, Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am-8pm and Saturday 9.30am-4pm.
