Pre-school swimming lessons available

Wed 20th August 2014

Beverley Leisure Complex is offering an immediate start for pre-school swimming lessons, for children aged three to five, with a maximum of six children in a class and the teacher in the water to support the children.

Pre-school classes are available:

  • Monday: 11.30am, 3pm or 3.30pm
  • Tuesday: 10am, 10.30am or 11.30am
  • Wednesday: 10.30am or 11am.

During these sessions, the children work through the East Riding Aqua Start Award Scheme. Pre-school lessons offer a progressive aquatic awareness programme, combining a flexible mix of lessons, activities and incentives. The lessons focus on creating fun positive experiences for young children that will not only help them to develop physically, but also emotionally and socially too, whilst equipping them with the key safety skills in the water.

Courses of lessons run in ten-week blocks and cost £43. Every child booking on to swimming lessons receives a free ten-week swimming pass to use at any East Riding of Yorkshire Council leisure site (terms and conditions apply).

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “Swimming is a key life skill and I am delighted that at Beverley Leisure Complex we can offer fantastic pre-school swimming lessons. It’s very important that we are able to support our youngest residents to learn to swim, and I hope that many people will take advantage of these lessons.”
