Oh My Dog! What a pool pawty!

Award winning dog boutique in East Yorkshire is making a splash to celebrate their 2nd Birthday with a pool party for dogs in the centre of Beverley, East Yorkshire.
Since launching Oh My Dog on Dyer Lane in Beverley, owner and former BBC Radio Humberside presenter Lucy Thompson was awarded ‘Entrepreneur of the year’ at the Hull & East Yorkshire People in Business Awards in 2022 and has seen the independent boutique take on various pop ups at events across the region.
Lucy describes Oh My Dog as, ‘a fun and welcoming atmosphere for dogs and owners. Whether it’s getting your dog to sit for a pic for the ‘gram on the mini chaise lounge or just popping by for a free treat from our treat jar and a friendly chat, shopping at Oh My Dog is an experience, not a transaction and I’m really proud of that so I couldn’t let our 2nd Birthday pass us by without creating something fun!’.
‘We’ve just reached our 2nd Birthday and I believe that 2 years in business really is something worth celebrating in this current climate and what better way to do that than by having some fun and hosting a pool party for dogs in the centre of Beverley!’.
On discussing the challenges that small businesses face in the current climate Lucy said, ‘It’s difficult for everyone at the moment but especially for small businesses. Overheads are constantly rising, and people are spending less which for a small retail business is not an ideal combination but we are where we are and we continue to work harder and remain positive!
Although the current climate is difficult, our pocket of Beverley has actually seen 5 new independent businesses open since we launched in 2021 and other actually expand! It’s so easy to get caught up in the negativity without realising what great things are happening on our doorstep. Owning and running a small business is not easy and we have to help and support each other in any way that we can and we really try to do that on Dyer Lane & Swabys Yard in Beverley.’
The Oh My Dog pool party for dogs will take place on Saturday 19th August 10am – 4pm at the side of Oh My Dog, 2 Dyer Lane, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 8AE.
