Nominations open for Chairman's Awards

Tue 2nd December 2014

Nominations can now be made for the 2015 East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Chairman’s Awards.

The annual awards, which are held at a ceremony at The Spa Bridlington in May, are presented to individuals, businesses and projects that have helped to improve the East Riding over the past year.

The awards are split into five categories:

  • community – recognises groups and individuals for their contribution to improving the lives of those living in the East Riding with a non-commercial project
  • built heritage – celebrates private homes or business premises that have been sympathetically renovated and restored
  • environment – recognises projects that have made an impact in the environment
  • business – recognises businesses that have helped the economy flourish
  • sport – celebrates local sporting talent, hard work and dedication shown by many young volunteers.

Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council Councillor Pat O’Neil said: “I am delighted that the council is continuing to recognise the achievements of individuals, organisations and businesses across the East Riding.

“I would like to encourage members of the community to nominate those who work tirelessly to create opportunities for those less fortunate than themselves.

“Those nominated are not simply just “doing their job”, they are individuals and groups with a vision and apply their sense of creativity and commitment to make a difference to their local community.”

To submit nominations go to www.eastriding.gov.uk/chairmansawards email chairmans.award@eastriding.gov.uk or contact Sarah Asquith, civic officer at East Riding of Yorkshire Council on 01482 393260.
