N.U.R.S.E has donated £10,000 to the Vascular Laboratory at Hull Royal Infirmary to help with the costs of a portable ultrasound machine.

The machine, which costs £20,000, will be used in day surgery for patients undergoing varicose vein surgery; be taken on the wards for non-mobile patients to be scanned and offsite to community clinics.

The laboratory was able to obtain a departmental grant of £5,000, and Paul Renwick, a vascular consultant at the hospital donated another £5,000 from his vascular charitable fund, leaving a balance of £10,000 to find to purchase the equipment.

The Committee of N.U.R.S.E. Charity were delighted to agree to donate the remaining £10,000 and are seen in the photo presenting their cheque for £10,000 at the presentation of the machine to the Vascular Laboratory.

With the acquisition of this machine, the Vascular Laboratory is able to re-open a community clinic at Pocklington which previously had been closed, thus saving patients having to travel the distance to Hull Royal Infirmary.
