Local cycle shop Minster Cycles now has the new Specialized electric mountain bike in stock; they are the first stockist in the UK.

The Specialized Turbo Levo bike senses the rider’s pedalling power. It then uses a battery connected to a motor to add more power to the bike, giving the rider a ‘turbo boost’. The amount of power the motor adds to assist the rider can be adjusted using buttons on the frame to change the settings.

Peter Goldthorpe, MD of Minster Cycles said: “The bike appeals to a variety of people; it is in high demand.”

Electric bicycles or ‘E-bikes’ are used widely in countries around the world. There are more than 200 million of them in China!

Countries such as the USA are buying an ever increasing number of E-bikes and one in three bikes now bought in Germany is an electric bike.

Mr Goldthorpe explained: “Germany and America are ahead of the curve when it comes to buying electric bikes but the UK can soon catch up.”

He added: “Bikes like this are the future.”
