MBE for racecourse director

Wed 25th June 2014

The chair of directors at Beverley Racecourse is set to be given an MBE after being named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Charles Arnold Maxsted will pick up the honour for his services to Beverley Racecourse and the wider community in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Charles has seen huge changes at Beverley Racecourse since he first started there over 30 years ago and has watched it evolve into a major venue for more than just racing over the years.

The racecourse is not Charles’ only big contribution to Beverley, he has served as a magistrate in the town for 32 years and also served on the old Beverley District Council.
