Spending the festive period alone is something thankfully most us don’t have to worry about. However, particularly for the isolated elderly, Christmas can be a difficult time for this reason. KCFM decided to do something about it – and put on a fantastic Christmas Afternoon Tea at Armstrongs in Beverley on Wednesday 20th of December.

30 of the isolated elderly from across the rural East Riding, who rely largely on Community Transport Groups to get them out of their homes, were treated to a full afternoon tea - with mince pies of course, some fantastic entertainment, and then went home laden down with presents.

KCFM’s Programme Manager Sam Heywood said, “When we put on this event last year, we all went away feeling so moved. It was an amazing experience both for us and all our guests – plenty of smiles, presents and laughter. It made it a simple decision to put on the event again.

Thanks to everyone who’s donated their time, gifts or knowledge to help bring the Christmas Afternoon Tea together for the second time around, it really does bring joy and make memories for some incredibly special people.”
