Graham Stuart Mp Friday Is Your Last Chance To Have Your Say On Molescroft Tip

Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, is calling on Molescroft residents to review East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s amended plans for a new Household Recycling Centre on Ings Road in Molescroft, and have their say before the planning consultation deadline on Friday 6th October.

The Council has revised its proposals following the deferral of the planning application in March. A new team was assembled to look again at 34 sites around Beverley to find the most suitable location for a new Household Recycling Centre to replace the existing one at Weel.

Ings Road has again been identified as the best possible site and the amended plans have revised elements of the design and road layout to take residents’ concerns into account.

Graham hosted a protest rally of more than 100 people at the site in November 2022, organised a petition signed by over 600 people on top of 1,900 objections on the planning portal, and made sure the Council was in no doubt about the views of the community.

He celebrated the deferral in March as an example of what can happen when a community speaks as one voice forcing the Council back to the drawing board.

Beverley and Holderness MP Graham Stuart said: “People in Molescroft don’t want a tip in their back yards, and that’s why I’m telling everyone that if you have objections to the plans for the tip, you must get them in by Friday.

“The Council has revised its proposals following the campaigners’ victory in forcing them to go back to the drawing board in March, and now you must take action.

“Read the proposals, and make your own objections to the Council by Friday to ensure they’re taken into account before the plans come back to the planning committee.

“Your views matter, and for my part, I’m looking forward to chairing a meeting of campaigners, high-level council officers and councillors this week where I’ll make sure the campaigners have every opportunity to raise your concerns.”
