The first heat of the Future Chef Cooking competition was held at Beverley High School on 11th November.

Future Chef forms part of Springboard’s high-profile national schools programme. It is an exciting interactive programme of resources matched directly to the food-related curriculum in the UK. Future Chef provides pupils aged 12-16 years with access to, and direct support from, chefs & other hospitality professionals, bringing the industry alive in the classroom and getting the classroom out into industry. It helps pupils discover potential career opportunities by developing their culinary talent and getting to meet professional chefs. Furthermore, students learn a vital life skill - cooking!

Through a four-staged nationwide culinary competition young people aged 12-16 learn to cook. It inspires them to explore food and cooking as a life skill, helps develop their culinary talent and informs them about entry routes into the hospitality industry. It culminates in a national final at Westminster Kingsway College where winners of the 12 regions go head to head and one talented student becomes the Future Chef winner!

In order to enter  the girls  needed to cook a main meal for two people that costs no more than £5 within an hour.

13 girls participated. Two students from Beverley High School will now go forward to the East Yorkshire Future Chef Local Final at Hull College in the New Year.

Just Beverley hopes to get invited to sample dishes in the future!
