Fostering Fortnight gets underway

Mon 1st June 2015

Today sees the start of a national campaign to raise awareness about fostering and to encourage people to enquire about caring for a child.

Fostering Fortnight runs between 1-14 June, and is seeking those thinking about fostering in Hull, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

Hull Fostering have information stands throughout Fostering Fortnight across Hull and would like people to come along ask questions and get an information pack.

Andrew Lewis, group manager at Hull Fostering, said: “Hull Fostering is the largest agency providing foster care in the local area with over 300 fostering households.

We have always had strong presence in Hull and our carers chose to come to us because we have strong culture of supporting them and being alongside them on their journey to becoming a foster carer and throughout their career.

There are currently over 650 children from Hull in the looked after system and Fostering and we encourage anyone who may be interested in fostering to get in touch with us by calling the fostering team on 01482 612800.”

Events are being held today at Prospect Centre and ASDA Hessle Road in Hull between 10am-3pm, and at St Stephen’s Shopping Centre and ASDA Kingswood on 8 June.

Foster carers receive training and ongoing support, as well as financial packages to aid the support given to a child.
