Foster Care

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking to recruit new foster carers to offer homes to children and young people across the East Riding and Hull.

The council is holding a series of information events during Foster Care Fortnight (May 13 to 26) at which people who may be considering fostering can find out more about what is involved.

Suzanna Hills, the council’s fostering team manager said “Foster carers and their families are exceptional people.  If you have the desire to help and can give the time, energy and commitment, we strongly recommend you to come along to the information events and find out how you can become involved in the much-needed and highly valued role as foster carer for East Riding children. We offer an excellent support package and excellent training opportunities”

Prospective foster carers must be aged over 21.

Information events in the East Riding include:-

Drop-in session at Costa Coffee, Cottingham, Monday 13 May, 10am to 12 noon
Information event at Tickton Grange Hotel, Tickton, near Beverley, Wednesday 15 May, 6 to 8pm
Drop-in session at Costa Coffee, Goole, Thursday 16 May, 1 to 3pm
Drop-in session at Sandhills Garden Centre, Preston, Thursday 23 May, 10am to 2pm

The council’s fostering team will be on hand at the drop-in sessions to answer questions and give information about the free professional training that is available.  At the evening event there will also be an opportunity to meet fostering social workers, foster carers and their birth children, and to talk to looked-after young people and hear about their experiences.
