On November 3, the first phase of Flemingate in Beverley, East Yorkshire’s newest shopping and leisure destination, opens to the public.  The great line-up of brands will be led by Debenhams as the flagship department store, and also includes H&M, The Entertainer, Trespass, Wilkinson, Poundland, Card Factory, Bolo, the local independent fashion retailer, and Guest & Philips, the Beverley-based jeweller.  Complementing the new stores are Costa, Deli One, Subway and Patisserie Valerie, the latter inside Debenhams.

Developed by Hull-based Wykeland Group, Flemingate is ten years in the making and has been designed from day one to provide both a wider choice for Beverley’s existing residents and to attract new visitors to the town from across the region.  To perfect the new retail units, restaurants and cafés, Flemingate’s opening date has been moved from October 27 to November 3 to ensure customers experience the opening of the centre exactly as planned.

The finished development will be worth the wait, with a range of exciting promotions from the new retailers to mark their opening in Beverley.

The initial phase of Flemingate will be followed by the opening of the new six-screen, 1,000-seat, Parkway cinema in December, with more new shops and restaurants joining the line-up in the spring.  An 80-room Premier Inn, 500-space multi-storey car park, the largest in Beverley, a new campus for East Riding College, and 130 homes complete Flemingate’s offer.

Commenting on the launch, Dominic Gibbons, Managing Director of Wykeland Group, said: “The opening of Flemingate is a key milestone and we are eager to get everything just right for the benefit of our visitors.  Many of the exciting new retailers and cafés opening on November 3 will be making their Beverley debut, not least of which is Debenhams.  Together, they are creating a great new destination that will bring more visitors to the town overall.  We appreciate everyone has to wait just one more week, but it will be worth it.

“We would also like to thank our retailers and cafés, the local community, and everyone involved in creating Flemingate for their support.  We hope they are as excited as we are to be in the final stages of preparation for the opening.  We are looking forward to welcoming our first visitors at 10am on November 3.”

Rob Hadfield, Property Director at Debenhams, added: “We are delighted to be opening our new Flemingate store on November 3.  We have been working very closely with the team at Wykeland since we first committed to the centre more than two years ago.  We share their focus on delivering a great experience for visitors, one that will encourage them to return again and again.

“We have a great portfolio of designer brands, so shoppers will be able to take advantage of our strong fashion and home ranges from top designers.  Our exclusive offering means customers can shop established industry names, such as Julien Macdonald, Henry Holland and Jasper Conran, at high street prices. “
