Spaldington Wind Farm Community Fund has received an additional donation of £10,000 from the developer Falck Renewables to support local groups and organisations within the fund’s area of benefit that are currently supplying essential services and support to people highly impacted by COVID-19.

By using the simple-to-use Small Grants facility within the fund, local community organisations, village halls, parish councils and local churches can apply for up to £500 to support COVID-19-related work.

The applications received will be reviewed by the fund panel and then a decision is reached; if the application is successful, the award will be made within a two-week period.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, the fund panel chair, said: “The fund panel are keen that this extra funding is awarded quickly to help community initiatives within the fund area of benefit. This comprises the parishes of Bubwith, Foggathorpe, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor, Eastrington, Howden, Spaldington and Wressle.”

In addition to this welcome extra funding made available especially for the COVID-19 crisis, the main fund is currently open to receive online applications. The panel has decided to keep the main part of the fund open for a further month, until Tuesday, 30 June, to allow extra time for applications.

Application forms are available through the fund web page at www.eastriding.gov.uk/spaldington-fund
