ERYC supports petition for street lighting along Wilberforce Way

Mon 11th January 2016

300 local residents  have already signed a petition in support of lighting along the Wilberforce Way path between Thurlow Avenue and Grange Way in Molescroft. Residents have commented that they can't understand why it has not been lit when the estate was first developed. And now that the Beverley Braves Rugby League Club is hoping to build a club house which will also serve as a community recreational facility on the Molescroft Carr/Thurlow Avenue playing fields, there is a real need for this path to be lit during the hours of darkness to increase public safety.

Street lighting is the responsibility of the local Parish Council - in this case, Molescroft Parish Council (MPC). There are grants which MPC can apply for the assist in the funding of such a scheme and ERYC have said it will work with MPC to implement the scheme and procure best price; ERYC will also absorb the design cost.

Molescroft residents and other users of Wilberforce Way in Molescroft can write to or e-mail the Clerk at MPC in support ahead of the next meeting of the MPC on January 21st.
