Enjoy Active Coast Activities This October Half Term

The Active Communities team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council have created an exciting and varied Active Coast programme of events, sessions and activities for the October half term holiday at several locations on the coast.

From yoga to Parkruns, from Halloween clay figures to dance workshops, from walking to football, and from woodland exploration to family bootcamp and sand and stone art, there is something for everyone.

All the Active Coast activities are free, but some do need to be booked in advance.

Councillor Nick Coultish, portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “It’s great to see another varied and exciting programme from Active Coast for this half term holiday! Families of all ages can benefit from all these superb activities and sessions, and have fun at the same time.”

Activities include:

Relaxing Evening Yoga Flow with Gentle Breathwork : a soothing, restorative evening Yoga class in the warmth of Bridlington Spa : Monday, 30 October: 7pm-8:30pm : Age: 16+

Halloween Clay Figures: Crafts with Thread and Press CIC: Learn how to sculpt clay and get some great creative tips. Mould a Halloween themed owl, bat or design a spooky creature for home or garden. Suitable for ages 5+ with an accompanying adult. Two workshops: 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm : Tuesday, 31 October :  Hornsea Hub

Dance Workshops:  a fun and energetic afternoon of Dance in Hornsea Hub sports hall. Learn a new dance routine, meet new friends, join in a range of different dance games. This session is suitable for beginners, and parents are welcome to stay if they wish to accompany their child: Thursday, 2 November: two sessions: 1pm-2pm and 2pm

Kids / Family Bootcamp : Join the Active Coast Team in Bridlington for a morning Bootcamp. Get active, join in, have fun and keep fit. The session will guide participants through a range of different Bootcamp activities to work on core strength, agility, stamina and fitness. No previous experience is necessary : Wednesday, 1 November :The Sports Hall, East Riding Leisure, Bridlington :10am-12noon : Age requirement: 6+

Peaceful Evening Yoga Flow: a relaxing evening Yoga class in the warmth of the Meridian Centre, Withernsea. No previous experience is necessary - beginners are welcome : Wednesday, 1 November : 7pm-8pm :Age: 16+

Sand and Stone Art with James Brunt      

The Active Coast Sand and Stone Art workshops return this October half term with the popular and very talented artist James Brunt on Bridlington North Beach. No previous experience is necessary: Saturday, 28 October: 10am-4pm. Families of all ages welcome. Just turn up on the day.

No previous experience is necessary: Sunday, 29 October: 10am-4pm : Hornsea Beach, TransPennine Trail Monument. Families of all ages welcome. Just turn up on the day. 

Woodland Explorations: Crafts with Wildcats : Monday, 30 October:Join the Wildcats for a special drop-in session exploring the creatures of the woods. Join in some creative fun! Danes Dyke Nature Reserve, Flamborough: 

1pm-3pm : Families of all ages welcome. Just turn up on the day.

Football on the Field

Join the Active Coast coaches for an open football session on the grass at Bridlington CYP Sports Centre. Hull City’s top female goal scorer will be on hand at this session to provide tips and tricks to help build skills and confidence at football : Tuesday, 31 October: Bridlington CYP Sports Centre, Gypsey Rd, Bridlington: 1.30-3.30pm : suitable for ages 6+ : just turn up on the day.

Mile Marker Walk, Bridlington: a 1 hour walk towards Sewerby and back past the Bridlington mile markers and back. The inclusive walk runs weekly at the same time and invites walkers of all abilities : Thursday, 2 November : East Riding Leisure, Bridlington:10am-11am : just turn up.

Park Run: Sewerby : Sewerby Hall, Bridlington

A 5k course for all abilities amongst stunning coastal scenery. Walk, jog or run the flat course alongside hundreds of others and a host of volunteers : every Saturday: 9am: families welcome. Pre registering is essential – all participants need a barcode to get their registered finish time. Free: pre-register for first event.

Park Run: Humber Bridge Country Park : Hessle Country Park, Second Grassy Meadow, Humber Bridge Country Park, Cliff Road, Hessle Foreshore, Hessle.

A stunning 5k course for all abilities. Walk, jog or run the flat course alongside hundreds of others and a host of volunteers.
