The Northwood Charitable Foundation was launched in 2013, after the Beverley and Hull Estate Agency lost MD Nick Cooper to pancreatic cancer.

Since then, members of the team raised money for causes close to their heart. Greg Wood, Operations Manager at Northwood, explains why they've chosen to take a dip for the next fundraiser.

"The Northwood Charitable Foundation is such a fantastic cause and is so close to many of those who work for and with Northwood. Having worked for Northwood for over a year now, it's my turn to do my bit to help raise some funds."

"Running, climbing and cycling have already been done extremely well by others in the network, so what could I do instead?.....Swimming!"

The Channel Relay will see Greg, along with colleagues Paul Hancock, Stuart Parris and Jason Ransley make the cold, long and painful journey across the channel to try and become the fastest ever 4-person relay team to swim from England to France.

With a target time of less than 8 hours and 42 mins, the team are training to average a minimum speed of 4.5km per hour. Currently swimming between 40-50km per week in a training pool, they will soon be taking to the sea as the main event approaches.

A boat and pilot and booked towards the end of July, with a changeable date due to tides and changeable weather conditions in the world's busiest waterway.

The team at the Northwood Charitable Foundation would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported their fundraising through Just Giving.
For those still wishing to donate it, is not too late - just a few pounds will make a huge difference. Simply visit their Just Giving page.
