The East Yorkshire Food Bank, based down Mill Lane, Beverley has received a much-appreciated donation of £500 from the Beverley Referral Business Network (BRBN).

Annemarie Foster, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foodbank attended a recent BRBN meeting to receive the cheque, which was handed over by group treasurer Tony Hall.

Run almost entirely on volunteers, with only one paid part-time staff member, the East Yorkshire Food Bank provides 3 day’s food needs for those in the community who have, for whatever reason, found themselves in difficulty.

Functioning through referrals from other services in the East Riding, the Foodbank provides nutrition for between 40 and 60 individuals per week. This is a big increase on the average of 14 people per week seen when the Foodbank was first established in May 2016.

Anne Marie was delighted ‘to receive a cheque nearly as big as herself’, and spoke proudly of the hard work of all the volunteers who help the food bank run as it does.

The BRBN is a group of local business owners that meet weekly in Beverley to network in a positive and supportive environment. The group regularly donate money to local causes.
