East Riding of Yorkshire and Kingston-Upon-Hull Joint Minerals Local Plan proposed submission consultation

Mon 9th April 2018
Queensgate Chalk Quarry Beverley

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council are seeking feedback on their Joint Minerals Local Plan Proposed Submission Document (the plan).

The plan sets out detailed policies for East Riding and Hull against which applications for minerals development, such as quarrying to extract chalk, sand and gravel, will be assessed.

Mineral safeguarding areas are defined in the plan to help prevent viable reserves being sterilised by non-mineral surface development. The plan also sets out a number of allocations for mineral extraction in the plan area.

Consultation on the plan runs from Monday, 9 April for a period of six weeks. Representations must be received on or before Monday, 21 May.

Following this six week period, the consultation documents and all the representations that have been received will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

The Secretary of State will appoint an independent Planning Inspector who will hold an examination in public into the plan to consider whether it meets the requirements of legal compliance, the duty to cooperate and soundness. The plan, once adopted, will replace the existing Joint Minerals Local Plan that was adopted in January 2004.
