The East Riding Festival of Words proved popular again this year, as a wide range of authors, writers, broadcasters and musicians appeared in Beverley and other local venues.

Organised by East Riding Libraries, the programme included 14 events featuring authors like John Bevis, Matson Taylor, Freya Sampson, and Jeffrey Boakye, and music from Luke Carver Goss and Gary Hammond.

Visitors travelled from many areas to see the events, and reactions included:

" I've really enjoyed the Festival. It's the first time that I've been to anything like this and I'll be back"

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Bestsellers' Day. So interesting to listen to the various authors...will come again”

"Thank you to East Riding Libraries for organising and hosting this Festival. A great local event as usual!"

Matson Taylor said : “Thank you so much for putting on such a fantastic Festival and for organising everything so well - it was an absolute pleasure to take part again - I honestly loved it! CONGRATULATIONS on running such a wonderful, friendly Festival.”

Councillor Mike Medini, portfolio holder for culture, leisure, libraries and customer service, said : “I am delighted by the response to this year’s Festival of Words, and well done to the team from East Riding Libraries who put it together and made it all happen.

“The even better news is that the East Riding Festival of Words will be back again next October – full details of dates, venues, and participants will follow in due course.”
