Driffield business shortlisted in national poultry and regional food and drink awards

The team at an East Yorkshire poultry business is celebrating after being shortlisted in two awards schemes.

Middleton on the Wolds based Soanes Poultry has been shortlisted in four categories of the National Egg and Poultry Awards and has reached the final five in the Producer of the Year category in the Garbutt & Elliott Food and Drink Business Awards.

The National Egg and Poultry Awards are backed by the British Egg Industry Council (BEIC) and the British Poultry Council (BPC). They honour and reflect achievement, excellence and best practice in the sector. Soanes Poultry has reached the final of the following categories: Producer of the Year, Processor of the Year, Innovation of the Year and Graham Bell has been shortlisted in the Unit Manager of the Year award. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Hilton Bankside Hotel on Tuesday 19th October.

In the Garbutt & Elliott Food and Drink Business Awards, Soanes Poultry has been shortlisted alongside fellow family businesses Wold Top, Breckenholme, Warrendale Wagyu and Moss Valley Fine Meats. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at York Racecourse on 16th September.

The awards are organised by York and Leeds-based accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott and recognise those entrepreneurs 0and businesses who have helped to create a thriving food and drink industry in Yorkshire.

Ben Lee, director of sales and marketing at Soanes Poultry is delighted with the news: "It's been a challenging 18 months, so to have reached the final in multiple categories of a national poultry competition and a regional food and drink award scheme within days of each other is amazing and a real credit to the team."

Soanes Poultry is an award-winning family owned business that has been rearing and preparing chicken since 1947. It sells chicken to butchers and independent retailers in Yorkshire and to wholesalers nationwide.
