Discover Autumn With The Council S Countryside Access Team

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s countryside access team has created a programme of Autumn Discovery events at Oakhill Nature Reserve in Goole, and at Eastrington Ponds.

All these outdoor events will be a great opportunity to enjoy – and learn more about – nature in the area.

There will be two ‘Fungi Foray’ events : Thursday 12 October will see an event at Oakhill Nature Reserve, off Tom Pudding Lane, Goole, from 10am until 12 noon. Participants will enjoy a walk of around a mile and see fascinating fungi and learn about their curious lives. The event will be led by mycologist Caroline Hobart and the countryside access team, and will be a chance to hunt for different species. Eastrington Ponds will host another Fungi Foray on Thursday, 19 October from 10am -12 noon, with a similar format, and a walk of around a mile. Places cost £3.50 for adults; £2.50 for those over 60; £2.50 for under 16s, and £9 for a family. On Friday, 13 October, there will be An Introduction to Foraging at Oakhill Nature Reserve, Goole, from 10am – 12 noon. On this forage around the reserve of up to two miles, there will be a chance to learn about the culinary, medicinal and herbal uses of plants, with outdoors expert Brian Bate and the countryside access team. Natural Navigation will be the theme at Oakhill Nature Reserve, Goole, on Friday, 20 October from 10am -12 noon. Participants will explore the reserve and discover how to navigate using clues and signs from the natural world, led by outdoors expert Brian Bate and the countryside access team.
