Demand brings IT courses back to Beverley

Tue 9th December 2014

East Riding College will be offering full-time information technology courses from its Beverley campus from September due to popular demand.

Qualifications are available at level two (GCSE equivalent) and level three (A-level equivalent) and are suitable for people who want to go into work and those who want to go to university.

They are being offered at the Beverley campus for the first time in several years because of feedback from young people who said they were interested in the subject.

Gareth Sykes, head of creative arts, performance and IT, said: “We’ve had a lot of interest recently in IT courses being run at the Beverley campus so we’ve listened and re-introduced them from September 2015.

“These courses run from general IT at a basic level to complex software development and systems maintenance so there’s something to suit all skill levels.”

The courses on offer include the Level Two BTEC First in Information and Creative Technology, which lasts one year and features a range of modules, including digital graphics, computer networks, website development, building a personal computer and computer systems support in practice.

The most advanced course, the two-year Level Three Extended Diploma in IT, looks at topics including software design and development, computer systems architecture, managing networks and IT systems troubleshooting and repair.
