With December upon us here are a few festive tips to enjoy the season and make the most of your bike during these shorter days:

Christmas Day is one of the quietest days of the year for traffic on the roads as everybody is sat around the Christmas tree! This means a quick ride out enjoying the calm roads and earning your Christmas dinner and chocolates is a must for any budding cyclist.

Asking for stocking fillers such as mini bike lights is a great idea for the darker mornings and evenings. They’re cheap and easy to purchase as there are plenty available on the market.

Adding more visibility to your bike during this time of year is always a great idea. If you’re not precious about the look that it gives, why not securely wrap some tinsel around the frame? Even if it’s just on Boxing Day, get into the spirit of things, add a bit of festive fun and make you and your bike more easily seen.

People often think children’s bikes would be flying off the shelves at this time of year, but this isn't really the case anymore. Cycles for young teenagers as well as adults are also in demand, so why not treat yourself or your partner a new bike?!

And if you’re looking to keep cycling over the holiday period, sign up to a ‘Festive 500’ using the ‘Strava’ app. This is a popular holiday activity, the aim being to cycle 500 miles over the Christmas period - a great way to burn off all that chocolate and Christmas pudding, and make the most of your time off work!
