Altered Beats and Track Fitness and Boxing Club are celebrating after receiving grants at a ceremony hosted by the East Riding youth and family support service.

The Positive Activity Grants were awarded to successful youth organisations from across the county by the Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Councillor Claude Mole, at a ceremony at County Hall in Beverley.

Altered Beats received £2,000 for a project to enable young people to create music, while Track Fitness and Boxing Club were awarded £2,000 to engage with young people in the Swinemoor area and encourage community spirit.

Councillor Mole said: “The awards will enable these groups to deliver positive activities to children and young people to help improve their personal, social and educational development, as well as providing some great fun activities.”

Kevin Allen, youth and family support service manager, said: “This year we had an unprecedented level of interest from voluntary youth organisations applying for an award and I am pleased to report that we are able to support 20 groups in total, 16 of which are completely new voluntary youth groups.

“We have seen a wide range of exciting and innovative bids, all of whom will receive a Positive Activity Grant.”

The grants were awarded to voluntary not-for-profit organisations to expand the amount of positive activity available to young people in the East Riding.
