Charity urging people to talk about mental health and help change lives.

Wed 5th February 2020
Time To Talk Day

Local mental health charity, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, is promoting this years’ Time to Talk day on 6th February 2020 by using the popular game 'Would you rather?' to help break the ice and get the conversation flowing.

Mental health problems affect one in four of us, yet people are still afraid to talk about it. Time to Talk Day encourages everyone to talk about mental health. This years’ Time to Talk Day is all about bringing people together and having those all- important conversations about mental health.

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind will be running a series of events on Time to Talk day itself, aimed at encouraging people to talk about mental health. Conversations will be started by a member of staff asking a question such as “Would you rather be stuck in a spiders web, or talk to a friend who feels trapped in their thoughts”. The aim of these questions are to get the individual to think about the importance of mental health.

Emma Dallimore, Chief Executive at Hull and East Yorkshire Mind said “There are lots of different ways to have a conversation about mental health, and every conversation helps- it helps to break down stereotypes, improve relationships, aid recovery and take the stigma out of something that affects us all.

“Time to Talk day is the perfect opportunity to have a conversation about mental health, whether that’s by sending your friend a text message, getting a room full of people together, or getting family and friends around for a takeaway and natter”.

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind will be in the following locations on Time to Talk day:

  • ASDA Kingswood in Hull – 10am-4pm
  • ALDI, Queen Street in Withernsea – 10am-4pm
  • The Co-Op in Hessle – 10am-4pm
