Actor and director Richard Avery has been confirmed as a guest keynote speaker for the VII Visions student conference which is the inaugural East Riding College Degree Student Conference in Beverley.

This event is set to take place at the historical Beverley Minster on 14 May.

It will, in essence, be the culmination of three years' hard work by the 2011 cohort as their BA (Hons) in Contemporary Media Design & Production degree draws to a culmination.

The conference will comprise an open exhibition of the students' work, which the attendees can freely peruse at various points before, during and after the conference. The main highlight of the day is most definitely going to be the presentations by the students of the dissertation topics. Presentations will be made in a short and accessible format with Q&A opportunities at the end of each speech.

Doors open at 10.30am, with the event running until 4pm, including a free networking event. Refreshments and light snacks will be on offer to attendees and it is hoped that most will make a day of it in order to fully see the exciting talents on offer within the region.

The first wave of invites have been sent to local businesses, however there are still places available and those who are interested should get in touch on viivisions@gmail.com or info@eastridingcollege.ac.uk to secure a place as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If any local businesses or individuals wish to sponsor the event, contact can be made through the same means to discuss potential options.

The day is sure to be a great success and it will most undoubtedly go from strength to strength in the years to come, providing students with a platform from which to display their skills and abilities.
