Beverley's Early Music Festival begins today

Fri 26th May 2017
Early Music Festival 2 Jpg

With an exhibition first seen in Antwerp Cathedral accompanied by a media installation in Beverley Minster, talks, a workshop, puppets, a recording for BBC Radio 3, bands, groups, choral masters, children's events and tales of spies and murderer's, Beverley's Early Music Festival has a wealth of innovative and creative events which celebrate early music as never before.

The first event at Beverley Minster involves children from local schools along with a choir and students of two universities and professional musicians interpreting 15th and 16th century repertoire and stories in their own way.

This evening we are treated to La Serenissima playing Vivalidi's Double Concertos in St Mary's Church. Over the weekend, The Tallis Scholars, The Carnival Band, The Marian Consort, Palisander and Castello Consort present early music in the Minster, St Mary's, Toll Gavel United Church and East Riding Theatre. On Saturday afternoon, Edward Waterson presents a talk on the Lost Houses of East Yorkshire in St John's RC Church.

The full programme can be found on Just Beverley's What's On pages or at http://www.ncem.co.uk/bemf
