Beverley Town Council And Wilkin Chapman Solicitors Support Remembrance Day

Beverley Town Council and Wilkin Chapman Solicitors joined forces to provide refreshments on Remembrance Day.

Whilst the main parade and wreath laying ceremony were managed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the refreshments following these were organised by the Town Council and generously sponsored by Wilkin Chapman.

Homemade soup was also prepared and served by Duncan and Joy Jack, using produce grown on their allotment.

The Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Tom Astell, said: “There is always an impressive turn out to pay their respects to our Armed Forces and remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The very least we can do is make sure that after the solemn laying of wreaths on a crisp autumn day, there are warm drinks and hot soup afterwards in St Mary’s Parish Hall. It is also an opportunity for those who attended the ceremony to sit down and have a friendly catch up. We would like to thank Wilkin Chapman for both sponsoring the event and providing volunteers to help, whilst Ducan and Joy’s homemade soup made a very welcome return. Thanks also to St Mary’s Church for allowing us to use their hall.”

Speaking on behalf of Wilkin Chapman, Caroline Fletcher-Shaw, Partner, explained: “In 2018, Wilkin Chapman signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which pledges our commitment to support the Armed Forces community, recognising the value that serving personnel, regular and reserve, veterans and military families contribute to society. It was therefore fitting that we could help on Remembrance Sunday – a time of both national and local reflection. Thank you to the Town Council for letting us take part.”

The Armed Forces Covenant ensures that those who currently serve or who have served their country are treated with fairness, respect and face no disadvantage. Wilkin Chapman has a proud history and connection with the military and is honoured to support members of the Armed Forces and their families with a wide range of legal services in the UK and overseas.
