Beverley Market traders present £2,172.81 to hospital appeal

Beverley Market traders have presented a cheque for £2,172.81 to the Daisy Appeal at Castle Hill Hospital.

The money was raised at a charity day organised by the traders and held at Beverley Saturday Market on Saturday 5 May.

There was a children’s treasure hunt, cycle challenge, and a grand raffle and tombola with prizes donated by businesses from Beverley and the surrounding area.

The event was supported by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, which runs Beverley’s Saturday and Wednesday markets.

Professor Nick Stafford, chair of the Daisy Appeal, said: "The support we have received from the Beverley Market traders has been fantastic.

“Thanks must go to Richard Lascelles and his team at East Riding of Yorkshire Council and a special thank you to stallholder Lisa Gray, from the Little Cheese Pantry, who worked tirelessly collecting raffle and tombola prizes and selling tickets.

“The total amount of £2,172.81 is magnificent and will certainly go towards helping the Daisy Appeal charity to fund a new £7.2million Cyclotron and Radiopharmacy Unit at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham, which will be used to help medics in the earlier detection of cancer, heart disease and dementia.”
