Beverley Blues Weekend

Fri 11th October 2019
Beverley Blues Weekend 1

The annual Blues Weekend enters it’s 9th year with a special line-up featuring a fantastic mix of East Yorkshires finest blues artists.

Taking place over the 25th – 27th October at two venues: the home of Beverley Blues - The Sun Inn in Flemingate and just around the corner, the Monks Walk.

The Monks Walk features the only ticketed events. On the Friday night we present solo blues singer, slide and lap steel guitarist Chris Martin accompanied by Paul Johnson. Chris plays in the style of the old bluesmen from the deep south with a modern twist and a hint of humour. If you haven’t seen Chris play yet I strongly urge you to go along.

On the Saturday we have multi blues award finalist Half Deaf Clatch. With a voice like gravel, superbly constructed songs and a personality that connects with each member of the audience, he promises to go back to his roots and play the old style blues the way it should be. One not to miss.

Tickets for the above events can be purchased online at www.beverleyblues.com and are limited to a small and up-close audience of only 40 people per show. Tickets are already on sale so, to get your chance to see these great artists, don’t miss out and order now.

Over at the Sun Inn, there is a vibrant mix of artists. From solo artists all the way through to full bands with brass sections.

Friday night kicks off at 9pm with outright blues rock from The Alligators.

The Saturday starts at 3pm and runs through until 11.30. Acts include: Chicago Bound, Soft Shoe Sam, Rivers Johansson, Fishy Waters and the Ridgemen. Concluding the evening are the Juke Joint Kings.

Sunday from 3pm features Dave Miller, Dogfinger Steve, Brian Williams, Ched’s Bare Bones One Man Blues and Boogie Band and rounding off Blues Weekend are The Late-Night Marauders. A wonderfully eclectic weekend of the Blues in all of its incarnations lies ahead.

All of the Sun Inns events are free admission; collections will be made for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance our chosen charity for the year, so please do donate.

Shortly after the blues weekend, on Friday the 9th November, Beverley Blues will be presenting another special. This time, from the USA, we have the solo world touring acoustic blues pioneer Catfish Keith. He has established himself as one of the most exciting country blues performers of our time. Catfish’s innovative style of foot stomping, deep delta blues and Americana roots music has spellbound audiences the world over.

Catfish will be performing at the Masonic Hall in Beverley. Tickets are available for this special event at www.beverleyblues.com where you can find more details on the artists and the Blues Weekend, or look up Beverley Blues on Facebook.
