Beverley: a chiming town

Fri 24th April 2015

As the riders race through Beverley on 2 May, Beverley’s churches will be spurring them on by ringing their bells.

St Mary’s Church and the Minster will each ring ten bells as the race goes through the town. The churches are two of several planning to welcome riders with their chimes as part of the three-day race from Bridlington.

The sound of the bells will give cyclists a welcome cheer from Beverley, as the town motivates them through its phase of the race.

The churches are a central feature to the décor of the Tour de Yorkshire, with both St Mary’s and the Minster planning elaborate displays in the official colours to put Beverley on the map for the TV cameras following the race.
