In a bid to raise much-needed funds, one Beverley charity shop is adopting a new retail concept for its donated stock.

With immediate effect all donated stock in the Beverley Community Lift charity shop, located at 6 Sow Hill Road in Beverley, will be priced at just £2.

Jan Stainforth, CEO of this local charity which provides community transport to take local elderly and disabled people out and about, explained the reason behind this new approach.

She said: “By offering donated stock at £2, we hope to encourage more people to come and visit our shop, bag a bargain or two, and also find out about the work that Beverley Community Lift does in, and for, the local community.

“The ‘everything £2’ deal applies to donated stock of clothes, bric-a-brac, household goods, DVDs, and other items. I can reassure shoppers that all the stock is of a very good quality – it’s not stained, threadbare or full of holes! It’s steamed, hung, sized, tagged, and displayed neatly and creatively, producing a pleasant shopping experience for our customers. Stock will be constantly replenished throughout each day, so it’s worthwhile visiting the shop on a regular basis.”

Jan continued: “All profits from our charity shop go towards helping us to take local elderly and disabled people out and about through our community car and minibus services. Our transport services are vital in helping to reduce our passengers’ feelings of loneliness and social isolation, and keep them connected with their community.

“Although our charity has been operating in Beverley and the surrounding areas for over 47 years, as demand for our services is increasing, we need to look at new ways to keep us on the road financially for many more years to come. Our charity shop is one way of generating these much-needed funds.

“I would like to thank our charity shop manager and shop volunteers for all their hard work in bringing this new concept to life. We hope that residents and visitors to Beverley will give us their support.”

There will be an official launch of the new ‘everything £2’ deal in the Beverley Community Lift charity shop from 10am-4pm on Friday 28th July. Local artist and new patron of the charity Shirley Harrison of ‘Shirley and Scruff’s’, will be in attendance at the charity shop between 12 noon and 2pm, where she will be creating some original artwork in situ. Please note: Shirley and Scruff items for sale in the charity shop are not included in the promotional ‘Everything £2’ offer.
