Residents at The Manor House Residential home in Little Weighton have been served an ace by home staff who laid on a Wimbledon-themed afternoon.

The home, on White Gap Road, planned an afternoon of Pimms and tennis, not forgetting the iconic strawberries and cream, so residents could still show their ‘love’ for the sport despite the tournament being cancelled this year.

Florence Dunbar, 91, resident at The Manor House Residential home’s daughter, Jackie said: “My mum looks like she had such a wonderful afternoon; she has always been a fan of watching sports and I know she would have loved this, obviously living with dementia this is a personal touch for her.”

Leanne Hatch manager at The Manor House Residential home, said: “Many of our residents really enjoy watching Wimbledon on the television each year, so we wanted to plan an afternoon of fun to make up for them missing out.

“Everyone had a lovely afternoon, but I think the highlight of the day for most was definitely the strawberries and cream, oh, and the Pimms!”

The Manor House has remained 100 per cent free of COVID-19 throughout the global pandemic.
