The LitUp Festival presents an exciting newly commissioned exhibition and performance by Hull- born artist Patrick Coyle at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice, as part of the ‘Out of this Word’ programme.

‘High Enterprise’will be at one of the UK’s busiest Leisure Centres from Thursday, 28 September to Friday, 3 November.

Inspired by the joined-up nature of this multi-functional building, Coyle interweaves three of its distinct environments through writing, performance and sculptural installation.

Using multiple reference points, Coyle writes a collection of overlapping texts that link Anlaby Library to the swimming pool and to Cafe Vibe in the centre. These narratives are interspersed by Coyle throughout the leisure centre in the form of a self-guided tour, which acts as something between a nature trail and a treasure hunt.

Patrick Coyle is back on his home turf, having recently delivered performances at the Austrian Cultural Forum in London; the Global Committee in New York; Buenos Aires; Belfast; Tate Modern in London; and Nottingham Contemporary.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said : “High Enterprise will be a great start to the Lit Up festival, and will be a very different, and memorable, experience for people visiting East Riding Leisure Haltemprice! I hope lots of people will come along and sample ‘High Enterprise’.

The free exhibition will be open Monday – Wednesday between 10am and 4pm; Thursdays between 1pm and 6pm; and Friday – Sunday between 10am and 4pm.

East Riding Leisure Haltemprice is in Springfield Way in Anlaby, and there is a large car park on the site, which can be contacted on 01482 652501
